Riedhausen is a municipality in the northwest of the Ravensburg district in Baden-Württemberg .

The community has been a member of the Altshausen community administration association with its seat in Altshausen since 1972 .

history

Early history

Riedhausen was first mentioned in a document in 1083. From 1179 to 1380 the ministerial family of the Lords of Riedhausen is proven to be the local nobility. 1179 Berthold von Riedhausen is a witness for the Welfen Welf VI. and the Duke of Swabia, the Staufer Friedrich V , mentioned in a document.

Population development

With an average age of 36.5 years, Riedhausen was the municipality with the youngest inhabitants on average in Baden-Württemberg at the end of 2011. In 2019, too, the municipality was at the forefront with an average age of 38.3 years.

Religions

The parish is the seat of the Catholic parish of St. Michael, which is part of the Saulgau deanery.

The evangelical Christians of the community belong to the parish Altshausen in the church district of Biberach.

Municipal council

Riedhausen is one of the few municipalities in Baden-Württemberg in which the municipal council is elected by majority vote. There are no lists or groups in the majority vote. The municipal council consists of eight members. According to the result of the local elections on May 26, 2019, these include two women. The municipal council consists of the elected voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council.

The municipality has a coat of arms awarded on July 3, 1980.

Riedhausen has a lively club life. The largest local club is the Riedhausen sports club, which offers various sports options for all age groups. Jedermann sports and sports for seniors are particularly popular. In spring, SV Riedhausen organizes the well-known May Festival. Football is offered by the FG 2010 WRZ. The jester association "Wasenstecher" operates the Swabian-Alemannic carnival with its jester figures Wasenstecher and Moorgeist . The Riedhausen theater group puts a comedy on stage in around ten performances every year. Other local associations include a local association of the rural women's association, the rural youth, the Pfrunger Ried fishing association, the Free-Biker motorcycle association and the Unterwaldhausen music association. There is also a volunteer fire brigade and a church choir.
