The Catholic Church of St. Michael

Aichstetten is a municipality in the Ravensburg district in southeast Baden-Württemberg . Together with Aitrach and Leutkirch im Allgäu, the municipality forms an administrative community.

Community structure

The districts of Altmannshofen , Altmannspeier , Breitenbach , Eschach , Häberlings , Hardsteig , Kirchmann , Langensteig , Nestbaum , Rieden and Ziegelbrunnen belong to Aichstetten .

history

Aichstetten was first mentioned in a document from the St. Gallen monastery in 797 as Eihsteti . Archaeological finds such as a Celtic draw castle on the Buchkapf, however, suggest that the area was settled much earlier. In 983 the place came into the possession of the Petershausen monastery , which in 1491 sold it on to the Waldburg family .

On July 1, 1971 Altmannshofen was incorporated into Aichstetten.

Aichstetten, like the entire surrounding area, is Roman Catholic. The parish is the seat of the parish of St. Michael in Aichstetten and the parish of St. Vitus in Altmannshofen. Both parishes belong to the Allgäu-Oberschwaben deanery.

The Protestant Christians in Aichstetten are parish members of the Aitrach parish , which belongs to the Ravensburg church district .

An agreed administrative partnership was entered into with the city of Leutkirch im Allgäu and the municipality of Aitrach .

  • The local elections on May 25, 2014 in Aichstetten led to the following official final result. The turnout was 56.7% (2009: 60.6%). The municipal council consists of the elected voluntary councilors and the mayor as chairman. The mayor is entitled to vote in the municipal council.

Dietmar Lohmiller has been the mayor of Aichstetten since 1990. He was last confirmed in office in December 2013 and his fourth term ends in 2022.

A town twinning between Aichstetten and Großröhrsdorf in the Bautzen district in Saxony has existed since 1993 .

Station building

The community is located directly on the Leutkirch – Memmingen railway line with departures every two hours from Aichstetten station. It is with some bus lines u. a. connected with Leutkirch and belongs to the Bodensee-Oberschwaben Verkehrsverbund ( bodo ).

Aichstetten is on the federal highway 96 from Lindau to Munich . At the junction Aichstetten one's motorway service furnished.

Established businesses

The corporate structure of Aichstetten is characterized by small and medium-sized businesses. A Eurorastpark has been set up at the Aichstetten junction of the Federal Motorway 96. At the junction there is also a Shell mineral oil deposit , which is part of the strategic oil reserve of the Federal Republic of Germany. Larger companies are various gravel and building material plants, such as Gebhart und Söhne GmbH & Co., which developed the Gisoton building material system and sells it in southern Germany, and the Jamara company, an international wholesaler for RC model construction .
