Fronreute is a municipality in Baden-Württemberg and belongs to the Ravensburg district .

Fronreute is located in Upper Swabia near the district town of Ravensburg and the city of Weingarten . The community consists of the three localities Blitzenreute, Staig and Fronhofen with a total of 25 hamlets on an area of ​​4800 hectares . This makes Fronreute one of the largest municipalities in Baden-Württemberg. Structurally speaking, Fronreute is a residential community with agriculture and craft businesses. The community is a member of the community administration association Fronreute-Wolpertswende , based in Wolpertswende.

With around 4608 hectares spread over a total of 41 residential spaces, the municipality of Fronreute is one of the largest municipalities in Baden-Württemberg. The village of Fronhofen has an area of ​​2781 ha and the village of Blitzenreute 1827 ha. Adjacent communities are Altshausen , Wolpertswende , Baindt , Baienfurt , Berg , Horgenzell , Wilhelmsdorf , Fleischwangen and Ebenweiler (all districts of Ravensburg) in a clockwise direction .

The municipality of Fronreute has a total of 4496 inhabitants, with 1814 inhabitants in the district of Blitzenreute with the hamlets of Baienbach, Hasenried, Staudenhof, Buchsee, Häge, Ober- and Unterspringen. The village of Staig with the hamlets of Eyb, Meßhausen, Preußenhäusle and Oberes Ried has 1224 inhabitants. The district of Fronhofen with its hamlets Balmbühl, Bettenreute, Egg, Einöd, Ergetsweiler, Fronreutehof, Feldmoos, Furthaus, Geratsreute, Grünlingen, Gunatsreute, Hübschenberg, Korb, Malmishaus, Möllenbronn, Obelhofen, Oberaichen, Ried, Ruprechtsbruck, Schlupfen, Schreckensee, Steinishaus, Weiherhaus, Wengen, Wielatsried, Wiesenhofen and Wiesentann has 1,458 inhabitants.

Demographics

The community of Fronreute is demographically a very young community. 23% of the population are under 18 years of age. Another 63% are in the 18 to 65 age group. Only 14% of the population are older than 65 years. The majority of the citizens of the municipality work outside the municipality. Only about a quarter find work in municipal workplaces. The municipality of Fronreute was created on September 1, 1972 through the merger of Blitzenreute and Fronhofen. The area of ​​today's municipality belonged to the Guelphs already in the early 10th century , who installed the later imperial barons of Königsegg - at that time still called Lords of Fronhofen - there. Later the area belonged to the Reichsabbey Weingarten . With the secularization due to the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , the place fell to the Kingdom of Württemberg , where it was assigned to the Oberamt Ravensburg (today's district of Ravensburg ).

Religions

Like the rest of the surrounding area, Fronreute is shaped by Roman Catholicism . The parish is the seat of the parish of St. Konrad in Fronhofen and the parish of St. Laurentius in Blitzenreute, both of which belong to the Ravensburg deanery. The Evangelical Lutheran Christians in Fronreute are parish members of the evangelical parish Mochenwangen, which includes the area of ​​the political communities Wolpertswende and Fronreute. It belongs to the deanery in Ravensburg and has 613 parishioners in Wolpertswende and 625 parishioners in Fronreute (as of 2004).

Mayor Oliver Spieß was re-elected in June 2010 with 95.1% of the vote. He was re-elected for the third time in July 2018 with 92.7% of the vote.
