The area Schenkenwald is a decree dated August 2, 1967 by the Regional Council of South Württemberg-Hohenzollern been instructed Nature Reserve (NSG number 4040) in the region of Württemberg, Baden- communities Baindt and Fronreute in the district of Ravensburg in Germany .
location
The approximately 68 hectare , two-part nature reserve Schenkenwald naturally belongs to the Lake Constance basin . It is located around 2.7 kilometers northwest of Baindt, west and east of the Südbahn route, at an altitude of 441 to 453 m above sea level. NN .
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of the only larger forest complexes ( Upper and Lower Schenkenwald ) in the Schussental on alluvial soil with their mostly oak-hornbeam mixed forests, in hollows and gullies also alder-ash floodplain forests, and the species-rich bird world.
