The Schreckensee area is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.018; FFH area ) designated by ordinance of May 26, 1939 in the area of the Baden-Württemberg communities of Fronreute and Wolpertswende in the Ravensburg district in Germany .

location

Originally about 100 hectares and is still 85.9-hectare nature reserve Schreckensee is one natural area to Upper Swabian hills . It is located west of Bundesstraße 32 , around 3.5 kilometers northwest of Fronreute and 3.8 kilometers southwest of Wolpertswende at an altitude of 568 m above sea level. NN . It essentially comprises the eponymous Schreckensee and the Kleiner Schreckensee, a little to the west .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the moor and marshland in the area of the Schreckensee with silting and flat moor zones as well as the surrounding litter meadows.

- Frizzy pondweed ( Potamogeton crispus )
Orchids
- Marsh glosswort ( Liparis loeselii )
Sourgrass family
- Bins cutting ( Cladium mariscus ), also cutting Ried or cutting called
- Rostred Kopfried ( Schoenus ferrugineus )
Horsetail family
- Marsh horsetail or duwock ( Equisetum palustre )
Water lily plants
- Yellow water-lily ( Nuphar lutea ), also yellow Teichmummel , Mummel , Teichmummel or pond Kandel called
- White water lily ( Nymphaea alba )
Millennial family
- Myriophyllum spicatum ( Myriophyllum spicatum ), also Ährenblütiges milfoil called

fauna

The reserve is, among other things, the habitat of a large number of grasshoppers , dragonflies and butterflies . In addition, the following birds are made of estimable wildlife species (selection) to name: Bekassine , Blässralle , Haubentaucher , Lachmöwe ( Larus ridibundus ), Reed Bunting , Teichrohrsänger , bittern and jacksnipe .
