Moore and Weiher around Brunnen is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the cities of Kißlegg and Bad Wurzach in the district of Ravensburg , which was declared by the Tübingen regional council on December 20, 1996 by ordinance . Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, the protection purpose is "the preservation, promotion and optimization of an ecologically valuable moor and wetland complex as a habitat for a species-rich endangered flora and fauna and as a retreat for specialized species that are dependent on unused or only extensively used, lightly polluted areas, as part of the landscape of particular scenic beauty, as a cultural and historical testimony to a centuries-old pond economy ”and“ as an important component in the habitat network of wetlands in the Württemberg Allgäu region ”.

Landscape character

The area lies in the terminal moraine landscape and includes several moors and ponds, including the Holzmühleweiher , the Brunner Weiher , the Rotmoos , the Bustenmoos and the Oberreuter Moos . Several different types of peat can be found in the area. There are raised bogs as well as silting bogs and swamp bogs . Even small sedge Riede and alder forests are available. The largest body of water in the nature reserve is the Holzmühleweiher. Clear traces of earlier use can be seen in the moors. Parts of the peat body were drained and pitted and later reforested with spruce. The remaining raised bogs have uncinate pines established backlogs.

Flora and fauna

The notable species in the area include the raised bog yellowfling , the blue-eyed forest porter , the common water hose , the raised bog maiden , the arctic emerald dragonfly , the Märzenbecher , the Davall sedge , the white germer , the marsh hermit and the wart-biter .
