The South Barrier ( English for southern barrier ) is a rocky mountain ridge on the island of Heard in the southern Indian Ocean . It extends from Budd Peak in a southerly direction along the eastern flank of the Fiftyone Glacier and ends at Lambeth Bluff in the south of the island.
Scientists from the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions carried out surveys and descriptive naming in 1948.
