Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions

The Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions ( ANARE ) are the national and private exploration expeditions of Australia to the Antarctic since 1947. In 1948 the Australian Antarctic Division was established to organize and administer ANARE. The expeditions focus on the scientific exploration of the Antarctic, in which both private and state bodies participate.

The government organizations include the Australian Bureau of Meteorology , the Australian Geological Survey Organization (AGSO), the Australian Surveying and Land Information Group (AUSLIG) and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). The non-governmental organizations mainly include Australian universities and research institutes.
