location

The nature reserve Taufach- and Fetzachmoos with Urseen is located about one kilometer south of the village of Urlau in the Herlazhofen , Friesenhofen and Beuren districts . The area is part of the natural environment Westallgäuer hills .

Protection purpose

According to the Protected Area Ordinance, the main protection purpose is "the preservation of the very primeval landscape shaped by the Ice Ages with the open water areas of the two Urseen, the dead ice holes in the earth moraine and the open and wooded raised bog areas as well as the many different transition stages from the low moor to the high moor. This largely intact habitat is of high ecological value in which numerous rare plant and animal species have been able to survive. "

Landscape character

The protected area is a large bog complex with raised, transitional and low bogs and bog forests. The Große Ursee and the Kleine Ursee in the west of the area and the Fetzachweiher in the north represent the largest bodies of water. They are drained by the Fetzachgraben.

Flora and fauna

Among others, the FFH species beaver , large moss damsel , golden piebald butterfly , four-toothed diaper snail , marsh glossy herb and glossy varnished sickle moss are to be highlighted .
