The area Altshauser Weiher is a decree dated December 30, 1974 by the Regional Council Tübingen been instructed Nature Reserve (NSG number 4075) in the territory of the municipalities Altshausen and Eichstegen in Baden-Württemberg district Ravensburg in Germany .
location
The approximately 50 hectare nature reserve Altshauser Weiher is part of the Upper Swabian hill country . It is located west of Altshausen and east of Eichstegen, directly on federal highway 32 , at an altitude of 582 m above sea level. NN .
The area of the actual, around ten hectare Altshauser Weiher is characterized in the north-western part by heavy silting , on the west bank species-rich beech forests and otherwise floristically rich litter meadows.
Surname
In the course of time, the pond , which was built during the reign of the Teutonic Order in the late Middle Ages, was given different names: Alter Weiher, Altshäuser See, Altweiher, Altshauser Altweiher and Großer Weiher.

The area of the Altshauser Weiher has an extensive bird world with over 100 observed species, of which around 60 species can be found relatively regularly in the breeding business . Another 40 species find resting quarters at the Altshauser Weiher as they migrate. The dragonfly and amphibian fauna as well as the fish fauna with four endangered species are also worthy of protection . Others
The Altshauser Weiher was included in the action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes . The aim of this program is to minimize the nutrient inputs from agriculture by creating a sedimentation basin.
The Altshauser natural lido is located on the south-eastern bank of the pond.
