The Hangquellmoor Epplings area is a nature reserve (NSG number 4.066) designated by the ordinance of December 21, 1973 of the Tübingen regional council in the area of ​​the city of Wangen im Allgäu in the district of Ravensburg , Baden-Württemberg in Germany .

location

The 1.37 hectare (ha) large nature reserve Hangquellmoor Epplings belongs naturally to the Westallgäu hill country . It is located about 2.7 kilometers southeast of downtown Wangen, between the hamlets of Epplings and Giesen, on the northern slope of the Upper Argen , at an altitude of 570  m above sea level. NN . This area is referred to as Deuchelried on the land maps .

Here, on the south-western slope of a moraine from the Würm Ice Age , the water is dammed up from a fairly large catchment area and emerges over a layer of clay at various points. Due to the high lime content of the water, tuff formation occurs at these springs .
