Roland Kirsch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roland Kirsch (* 1960 in Deta , Romania ; † May 2 or 3, 1989 in Timișoara ) was a Romanian writer .

life and work

Kirsch came from the Romanian German ethnic group of the Banat Swabians . He was an engineer in a slaughterhouse, photographed the "sadness of everyday life" and wrote prose miniatures . He was close to the literary action group Banat and was later a member of the literary group "Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn" in Timișoara, in which most of the former members of the action group participated after 1975 .

In May 1989 he was found hanged in his home. In 1996 the band Der Traum der Mondkatze appeared in Germany from his estate .

Evaluation of the suicide

In an interview published in the Hamburger Abendblatt in 1996 , the writer Richard Wagner reiterated his suspicions about a connection between Kirsch's death and the activities of the former Romanian secret service Securitate :

“We know for sure that the secret police interrogated Kirsch. The prosecution forbade the body to be autopsied, and his family did not respond out of fear. What exactly happened cannot be clarified, since the files of the Securitate and the authorities are under lock and key. "

The Nobel Prize winner Herta Müller commented on the death of Roland Kirsch in 2009:

“... in May 1989 he was found hanged in his apartment. The neighbors say today that several loud voices were heard in his apartment the night he died. I don't believe in suicide either. In Romania, all the formalities before a funeral went on for days. In the case of suicide, an autopsy was a matter of course. But Roland Kirsch's parents were given all the papers within a day. He got underground quickly and without an autopsy. And there is not a single visit from Roland Kirsch in the large bundle of tapping protocols. The name has been deleted, this person should never have existed. "

In this context, Ernest Wichner remarked in 2009 about Radu Tinu, the second most powerful man in the Securitate in Timișoara in December 1989:

“He knows nothing about the murder of the young author Roland Kirsch - he was found hanged in his apartment on the morning of May 2, 1989 - he has not even heard his name. But he knows the policeman who investigated this death. A slip of the tongue couldn't be clearer. "

Wichner and Wagner were co-founders of the action group Banat and, like Kirsch and Müller, belonged to the later literary group "Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn" .
