The Bodenmöser are a nature and landscape protection area in the Baden-Württemberg district of Ravensburg in the area of the city of Isny im Allgäu and the municipality of Argenbühl in Germany .

Characteristics

The area was designated as a nature and landscape protection area by ordinance of the Tübingen regional council of March 22, 1990. The NSG is listed under the protected area number 4.163, the LSG under the number 4.36.067. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 162479 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose of the nature reserve is the preservation of the Bodenmöser as one of the largest examples of pre-alpine moor complexes with large-scale raised, intermediate and low moors and as part of an association with the pre-alpine moorland. This includes, in particular, the protection of raised bog areas as well as litter, damp and wet meadows from intensification, drainage, damage to the edge and other uses that damage nature conservation concerns. In addition to maintaining the diversity of species and communities that live in these moorland habitats, suitable care and maintenance measures should be used to restore or improve the ecological value of those habitats that have been impaired by human interference or overuse in the past.

The main protection purpose of the landscape protection area is the preservation of the grassland and forest belt, which is naturally connected with the nature reserve, as a buffer zone to avoid negative influences on the NSG through disturbing changes in the environment that impair the natural balance or the landscape of the Isny basin. It is a landscape of particular beauty and peculiarity, pronounced in the alternation of large open grassland areas with forest and wood-lined streams, to secure the landscape and the recreational function.

There are several moor and heather areas, the most important of which are Eisenhammermoos, Riedmüllermoos, Rotmoos and Hasenmoos. The rich flora and fauna of the soil Moser also includes rare species such as adders and Marsh Grasshopper to grow it Bogbean and moor grass .

Renaturation

As part of the Moore mit Stern project , made possible by a donation from Daimler AG , the Naturschutzbund Deutschland Baden-Württemberg wants to improve the condition of the Bodenmöser and the Hinterzarten Moors in the Black Forest through renaturation . As part of the measures, drainage ditches have been blocked since October 2015 and non-site spruce trees have been felled. In May 2016, after completing the first project phase, the formation of typical plant communities and communities could already be observed in the raised bogs in Harprechtsmoos, Gründelsmoos and Riedmüllermoos. In the Eisenberg West area, however, a strong bloom of sewage fungi in the central ditch and in the meadow ditch below, which is accompanied by an unpleasant odor. Experts suspect that this is an unpredictable consequence of the renaturation measures, during which larger amounts of nutrients, mainly phosphates , were released. The phenomenon could last up to two years. In coordination with the responsible authorities in the Ravensburg district office and in the Tübingen regional council, the Naturschutzbund commissioned a water ecology institute to determine the intensity and dimensions of the pollution. Further measures are planned.
