The Hinterzarten Moor is a nature reserve in the area of ​​the Hinterzarten municipality in Baden-Württemberg .

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated for the first time by ordinance of the Baden Minister of Education and Culture of April 7, 1941 (expanded in 1975) and has a size of around 82.7 hectares. It is listed under the protected area number 3.036. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 81884 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The protected area is directly adjacent to the site. It is located north of Hinterzarten between the railway line and the B 31 . It is located in the natural area 155 - Southern Black Forest within the natural spatial main unit 15 - Black Forest . It belongs to the Southern Black Forest Nature Park and is largely enclosed by the nature reserve no. 3.15.026 Breitnau-Hinterzarten and is part of the 1765 hectare FFH area 8114-341 High Black Forest around Hinterzarten .

The moor threatened to dry out due to drainage channels that were created for peat extraction that was never carried out. The water drainage was stopped in 2015 by closing off these canals with sheet pile walls. This will make the raised bog wetter again in the long term and thus secure its existence.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the protection of the moor area, which emerged from a glacier basin, with trees, swinging lawns, transitional moor and high moor with numerous glacial plants and a residual lake.
