The nature reserve Unteres Seebachtal lies in the area of the communities Hinterzarten , Feldberg and the city Titisee-Neustadt in the district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg .

Characteristics

The protected area was designated on May 16, 2008 by an ordinance of the regional council of Freiburg - as a higher nature conservation authority - with the protected area number 3277. The CDDA code is 389987 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

Location and description

The nature reserve is located in the lower part of the Seebach, which runs from Feldsee to Titisee, and extends to the point where the brook flows into Titisee. Of the 65 hectare area, 49 hectares are in the Hinterzarten district, 15 hectares belong to the Feldberg community and a small part belongs to Titisee-Neustadt. The area is a glacial trough valley and tongue basin of the Feldberg glacier. Already at the end of the last Ice Age, the silting and partial bog had started here.

In this valley with the Seebach as a near-natural flowing water, there are wet meadows, grass lawns, tall herbaceous meadows and transitional moors. The course of the stream is lined with gray alder alluvial forest, and there are peat forests on the Titisee. Beavers have been active in the area in recent years. Due to the strong tourist use of the area around Lake Titisee and the operation of two campsites in the immediate vicinity of the nature reserve, there is potential for conflict, the high visitor pressure leads to disruptions in the area. The establishment of the nature reserve was preceded by efforts to create a golf course in the area in the 1980s. Even back then, this was countered by concerns about nature conservation.

The nature reserve is completely enclosed by the landscape protection areas 3.15.026 Breitnau-Hinterzarten, 3.15.036 Feldberg-Schluchsee and 3.15.033 Titisee-Neustadt. It belongs to the FFH area No. 8114-341 Black Forest around Hinterzarten and the Southern Black Forest Nature Park and is located in the natural area 155- High Black Forest within the natural spatial main unit 15- Black Forest .

Protection purpose

The protection purpose is the preservation of the area, which offers habitat for a large number of endangered animal and plant species and is characterized by extensive agricultural use. Those habitats and species that comply with the Habitats Directive are also to be protected, especially species-rich nistar grass lawns, humid tall forebear meadows, mountain hay meadows, transitional and swinging lawn bogs, nutrient-poor still waters, moor forests and alluvial forests with alder, ash and willow.
