Zweribach is a nature reserve and a forest in the area of ​​the Baden-Württemberg communities of St. Märgen, St. Peter and Simonswald.

Characteristics

The nature reserve was designated by ordinance of the then regional council of South Baden on September 2, 1969 and has a size of 95.5 hectares. Of these, around 45.9 hectares are in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district and around 49.6 hectares in the Emmendingen district. It is listed under the protected area number 3.077. The CDDA code for the nature reserve is 82964 and corresponds to the WDPA ID .

The somewhat smaller, but almost congruent with the NSG, protected forest is 76.1 hectares in size. It was set under the protected area number 1000010 by ordinance of February 20, 2004 by the Freiburg Forestry Directorate.

Location and description

Zweribach waterfall

The reserve is around 3.5 kilometers north of St. Märgen. It is a Karmulde open to the northeast with drainage to the Wildgutach Valley. The Zweribach and the Hirschbach plunge in waterfalls over the Karwand into the Simonswälder Valley .

The area is located in the natural area 154 - Southeastern Black Forest within the natural spatial main unit 15 - Black Forest . It borders on the protected landscape areas No. 3.15.031 St. Peter, St. Märgen (in the west) and No. 3.16.004 Simonswälder Tal (in the east) and is also part of the Southern Black Forest Nature Park .

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is to secure the uninfluenced development of the respective forest ecosystems with their animal and plant species as well as fungi, as well as to guarantee the scientific observation of the development. This includes the protection of the habitats and communities that are located in the areas, change in the course of the self-dynamic development of the forest stands within the protected areas or arise through the self-dynamic development.
