The Prechtaler Schanze-Ecklesberg nature reserve is located in the area of the town of Elzach in the Emmendingen district in Baden-Württemberg .
The area stretches northeast of the core town of Elzach and east of Oberprechtal , a district of Elzach, on both sides of the Elz and the state road L 109. The L 107 runs to the west and the B 33 to the east .

Since October 10, 1997, a 230.2 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Elzach under the identification number 3.236. There is a "rural embossed, richly textured landscape mosaic with typical vegetation units of the former Reutbergwirtschaft and other historical forms of use with broom pastures , dry meadows , wet meadows , fens , former coppice forests and other forest types."
