The Amolterer Heide is a nature reserve in the Kaiserstuhl natural area in Baden-Württemberg . With its exposed, dry slopes with semi-arid grass, it is the oldest nature reserve in the Kaiserstuhl.
geography
The nature reserve is located in the northern Kaiserstuhl in the area of the city of Endingen and above Amoltern , a district of the city of Endingen, in the district of Emmendingen . Endingen itself is about 2 kilometers away to the northeast. The area extends from Galgenberg ( 326.6 m above sea level ) to the southeast.
Characteristics
The area was designated as a nature reserve by ordinance on October 20, 1939 and is managed under the protected area number 3.026 at the Freiburg Regional Council. It has an area of 11.2 hectares and is classified in IUCN Category IV, a biotope and species protection area. The WDPA ID is 81304 and corresponds to the European CDDA code and the EUNIS no.
history
The Amolterer Heide is one of the oldest protected areas in Baden-Württemberg and the oldest in the Kaiserstuhl. Originally it was supposed to be protected as a typical, species-rich flora and fauna with its brisket - semi -arid grassland . In the course of re-allocation and expansion of vineyards, there were changes in use, so that today a large part of the area (approx. 75%) is provided with vines. Most of the remaining meadows were converted into smooth oat meadows.

The subsoil consists of tephritic rocks ( volcanite ) with a thin top layer of loess .
Flora and fauna

The protected area is dominated by the sage oat grass meadows with the growing therein Saxifraga granulata and the brome - chalk grasslands , the habitat for the Cowslip and the Yellow Rockrose is. The real globe flower , the gold aster , the field man litter and the narrow-leaved flax thrive on the dry grass that is rare in the heather .
From the family of orchids that are Monkey orchid , the fire orchid and green-winged orchid with a remarkable volume represented in the area and the pulsatilla vulgaris and mountain clover . At the edges are the Rispige Graslilie , the Berg-Aster , the Berg-Haarstrang , the great anemone flower and on the slopes of the heather the German Iris (Iris) .
fauna
The heath is rich in butterflies to observe are the MINOIS DRYAS from the family of Nymphalidae and from the family of Bläulinge of Silver Green Bluebird , the Glaucopsyche Alexis , the Small Esparsetten-Bluebird and the short-tailed Bluebird . The forest edges and hedges offer breeding grounds for numerous birds such as B. for the red backed .

Numerous hiking trails lead across the Amolter Heide, such as the cherry tree path from Sasbach to Riegel , as well as a herb path.
