The Wuxi Airport ( IATA code WUX , ICAO code ZSWX , chin.苏南硕放国际机场) is an international airport in the province of Jiangsu in the southeast of China . It is located around twelve kilometers southeast of Wuxi and around 100 kilometers west of Shanghai . It also serves the city of Suzhou .

In 2009 it had more than two million passengers.

The airport was created in 2004 from a military airfield. In 2007 a new terminal was built.

There are no direct flights to the airport from German-speaking countries; Connections exist via Beijing , Hong Kong or Osaka (as of November 2011). Wuxi is also served from Canton and Macau . In addition to Air China , Shenzhen Airlines , China Eastern , China Southern Airlines , Sichuan Airlines and China United Airlines fly .
