The Schmalegger Tobel is a ravine landscape in the Upper Swabian district of Ravensburg , which is directly adjacent to the Ravensburg district of Schmalegg . The flowing waters of the system flow into the Schussen tributary of Lake Constance at Weingarten as Ettishofer Ach .

Emergence

The ravines were formed around 12,000 years ago after the end of the Würm Ice Age . As the central rail of the Rhine glacier the had shot pool with a 200 m high edge of moraine developed. The river rivers saw their way into the soft rock subsoil and thus caused the ravine to form, which continues to this day in the form of receding erosion .

landscape

In the area, which is characterized by strong devastation , there is a partially protected landscape with canyon forests and several streams. Sights are above all the waterfall of the Buttenmühlebach with a height of around six meters, the king fir , and the remains of the ramparts of the former Ringgenburg .

In detail, the ravine landscape consists of the following ravines:

  • Schmalegger Tobel
  • Ringgenburger Tobel
  • Glastobel
  • Feuertobel
  • Hirschtobel
  • Gehrentobel
  • Rötenbacher Tobel
  • Steigtobel
  • Engeletobel, also called Engeleloch
  • Storm tobacco
