Albert Schönhofer

Albert Schönhofer († July 7, 1493 ) was auxiliary bishop in Passau ( Germany ).

Life

Schönhofer was a priest of the Diocese of Passau before he became (occupied) vicar of choir at Passau Cathedral on February 16, 1458 . From 1458 to January 2, 1465 he was pastor of Pillichsdorf , Lower Austria . From January 2, 1465 he was verifiably pastor of St. Marienkirchen near Schärding or St. Marienkirchen an der Polsenz in Upper Austria . From July 1, 1465 he was pastor to Triftern . From 1473 to 1493 he held the office of Canon of Passau.

On May 17, 1473 Schönhofer was appointed titular bishop of Salona . On May 30, 1473 the consecration took place in Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome . From 1473 to 1493 he was auxiliary bishop in Passau and at the same time in Augsburg . On April 14, 1476 he consecrated the church of the penitent's house of St. Hieronymus in Vienna (today the Franciscan Church), on June 18, 1477 he consecrated the newly built church of St. Alban near the lepers in the Au zu Burghausen , then Archbishopric of Salzburg . Furthermore, he consecrated the high altar of the parish church Waldkirchen am Wesen , the choir and the altars in Schörfling am Attersee (September 5, 1476), the altar of the parish church Vöcklamarkt (before 1489) and took part in the commission for the altar from Kefermarkt , Upper Austria .

In 1490 he gave the order to the Passau goldsmith Balthasar Waltensperger for the oldest surviving Passau bishop's staff . Schönhofer donated a quarter of December in the Triftern parish church. He died on July 7th, 1493. His grave is in the Cathedral of Passau in the Andreas Chapel .
