Wolfgang Püchler OFM († July 23, 1475 in Vienna ) was Bishop of Hippo and auxiliary bishop in Passau from 1445 to 1475.

Life

Püchler was profession of the Regensburg Minorite Monastery . In 1445 he was ordained auxiliary bishop in Passau with the titular seat Hippo ( Hippo Regius ). His first episcopal official act was the consecration of the Dominican Church in Retz in 1445.

Whether he was pastor in Tulln on the Danube at the same time in 1445 , as can be read in Leidl / Gatz, is not certain. The assumption is based solely on the fact that his picture appears in the portrait collection of the Tulln pastors, but not even the legend on the back, which is probably from the Baroque period, identifies him as such. From 1451 to 1452 he was pastor of Weitra and 1469 in Hainburg near Vienna. He was court preacher in Vienna and from 1459 and 1469 provincial of the Austrian Minorite Province for six years , as well as bishop councilor in Passau.

He was only active as a bishop in the land under the Enns. Numerous messages about his activities can be found in the ordination registers. In addition to the already mentioned consecration of the Dominican Church in Retz in 1445, he consecrated the high altar and three other altars in the Korneuburg Augustinian Church in 1459 , appointed Abbot Paulus Pymisser in the Seitenstetten Abbey in 1465 and reconciled the Abbey Church, the chapels, the monks' and cemeteries in 1465 the parish church of Klein-Mariazell , in the same year also the collegiate church and the cemetery of Zwettl monastery and in 1471 at the parish church and the cemetery at Wilhelmsburg. On March 25, 1472, Püchler consecrated three altars in the parish church in Meisling near Krems.

He died on July 23rd, probably 1475, in Vienna and was buried in the Minoritenkloster on Minoritenplatz. His tombstone is no longer there.
