Bernhard Meurl from Leombach

Bernhard Meurl von Leombach (* 1452 ; † January 27, 1526 ) was Bishop of Libaria and auxiliary bishop in Passau .

Life

Meurl was born in 1452 as the eldest son of Leonhard Meurl von Leombach and his first wife Maria von Albrechtsham. He studied at the University of Vienna and was dean in Freistadt in the Mühlviertel. Appointed Bishop of Libaria (in Asia minor ) and auxiliary bishop in Passau on May 4, 1496 , he took part in the elevation of the bones of St. on February 15, 1506 with Bishop Wiguleus Fröschl of Marzoll . Leopold in Klosterneuburg . 1522 he became provost of the collegiate St. Salvator in Passau- Ilzstadt . He died in 1526 and was buried in the Passau cathedral cloister. His shepherd's crook, dated 1523, is in the Passau Diocesan Museum .
