background
The prince bishops in the Bishopric of Passau were from 1217 until the secularization in 1803 primarily from posthumous Bavarian, Austrian and Bohemian nobility and belonged with seat and voice to the rank of prince ( Imperial Prince ) in the Reichstag on. The court in Passau was relatively modest. Some prince-bishops only had minor orders . In this case it was up to the auxiliary bishops to take over the church functions in Passau.
