coat of arms

Blazon : Divided by a sloping beam made of blue and gold in two rows; above in gold a blue oak leaf, below in blue a golden, sunken anchor. The division of the coat of arms symbolizes both the community of Waldkirchen and the market in Wesenufer. "Gold" refers to the agriculture in Waldkirchen and "Blau" to the Danube in Wesenufer. The coat of arms is divided by a double bar, which comes from the Wesner coat of arms. The oak leaf points to the former Aichberg Castle , the anchor points to the importance of Wesenufer as an overpass and Danube port. On December 2, 1987, the municipal council decided on the coat of arms described above and set the municipal colors as white and green.

history

In 1070 the castle Wesen was presumably built by Gothuvertus von Wesen . Since 1264 at the latest, Wesen and Waldkirchen have been in the possession of the Passau bishopric . The Gothic parish church in Waldkirchen was first mentioned in a document in 1282. In 1582, Wesenufer was elevated to a market. In 1803 the Passau bishopric was dissolved and the area changed hands several times as a result. Since 1816, Waldkirchen has finally belonged to Upper Austria.

After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.
