coat of arms

The coat of arms was awarded to the municipality on December 12, 1969 by the Upper Austrian provincial government. Blazon : In red a silver, slanted poker , the left barb lowered and opposed. The poker comes from the coat of arms of the extinct Zeller family, who had a seat on the left bank of the Pram at the beginning of the 12th century . The family died out with Christoph Zeller in 1550. The community colors are red and white.

history

The place was Bavarian since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria. The local noble family of the Zeller already had a seat on the left bank of the Pram at the beginning of the 12th century. With Christoph Zeller, the family died out in 1550 and the property came to the rule of St. Martin by inheritance. Joseph Ferdinand Graf von Tattenbach (1723–1802) shaped the place by rebuilding the parish church Maria Himmelfahrt and by rebuilding the castle in 1772.

Due to its location on the Bavarian-Austrian border, Zell was plagued and plundered by acts of war, especially during the War of the Spanish Succession. Both the Austrians and the Bavarians led their campaigns through Zell. It is known that the Bavarian Elector Max Emmanuel opened his headquarters in Zell at the beginning of 1704.

In May 1779, in the Peace of Teschen, Baiern had to give up its seven rent offices on the right bank of the Inn to Austria. This brought Zell, which belongs to the Schärding Rent Office, to Austria.

Briefly Bavarian again during the Napoleonic Wars, since 1814 it has finally belonged to Upper Austria.

After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

Until the end of 2002, the community belonged to the Raab judicial district , after its dissolution it was assigned to the Schärding judicial district.
