Catholic parish church of St. Nicholas in Waldkirchen am Wesen

The Roman Catholic parish church of Waldkirchen am Wesen is located in the municipality of Waldkirchen am Wesen in the Schärding district in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to St. Nicholas and belongs to the Peuerbach deanery in the Linz diocese . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The church was first mentioned in a document in 1282. The church was built in the Gothic style.

architecture

Church exterior

The Gothic church has a slightly drawn-in three-bay choir that ends in the 3/8 end. A vestibule is built in front of the Gothic south portal.

Church interior

The three-bay choir is vaulted with mesh ribs , as is the single-nave, five-bay nave. In 1906 and 1907 a ship's yoke was added and the west tower with a pointed helmet was added to it.

Furnishing

The high altar, the side altars and the pulpit were built after the middle of the 18th century. The altarpiece of the high altar comes from Paul Steiner from the third quarter of the 18th century. The font on the right in front of the high altar is Gothic and dates from the beginning of the 16th century. The coat of arms tombstones are from the 15th and 16th centuries.
