history

A Burgstall Turnertobl goes back to the 12th or 13th century.

In the 12th century, the area and the rule of Weinberg belonged to the rule of Freistadt . It was later detached from Freistadt and the first owners of the princely fief were the Piper von den Weinperge . From 1369 the family of the Zelkinger is the owner of the fief. In the late 15th century, Christoph von Zelking enlarged the rule, built a church in Kefermarkt, and on September 17th, 1479, the village became a market. Before this point in time, Kefermarkt was called Dorf am Weinperg or Chefferndorf , and the present name was adopted with the certificate. With this market survey, Kefermarkt was able to hold a fair every year on August 3rd.

The oldest description of the market is from 1526, when the place comprised 15 houses. The number of houses rose to 27 by 1626. The settlement has always been closely associated with Weinberg Castle .

In the course of the Counter-Reformation and the Upper Austrian Peasants' War in 1626, the Protestant Wilhelm vom Zelking had to leave Weinberg Castle and retired to his castle in Zelking-Matzleinsdorf (Lower Austria). His cousin Christoph von Thürheim zu Bibrachzell bought Weinberg Castle for 210,000 guilders and 1200 Reichstaler. In 1961, died at Ludwig Goswin of Thürheim the sex of Thürheimer out.

With the construction of the Summerau Railway , Kefermarkt received a railway connection. Since December 20, 1873, Kefermarkt has been connected to the state capital Linz by rail. The station, which is operated today by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), is due to the geographic conditions, south of the market center in the valley.

Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau. After 1945 Kefermarkt was in the Soviet occupation zone, which existed until 1955.

coat of arms

coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms shows :

A red-white-red shield . Above and below (each in red) is a silver heraldic rose inseminated in gold with green sepals.

The Austrian binding shield points to the former princely fiefdom of Weinberg (official declaration). The meaning of the rose - which is also found in the Lasberg coat of arms - is unclear.

The award of the municipal coat of arms and the municipal colors is not known. Although the place was raised to a market in 1479, the current coat of arms shows a representation from the 18th century.
