The judicial district of Freistadt is the District Court Freistadt under standing judicial district in the political district of Freistadt (federal state Upper Austria ).

history

The judicial district Freistadt was created together with 46 other judicial districts in Upper Austria by a decree of the kk Oberlandesgericht Linz on July 4, 1850 and originally comprised 33 communities.

Through the amalgamation of municipalities, the number of municipalities was reduced to the 12 municipalities of Freistadt , Grünbach , Hirschbach im Mühlkreis , Kefermarkt , Lasberg , Leopoldschlag , Neumarkt im Mühlkreis , Rainbach im Mühlkreis , Sandl , St. Oswald near Freistadt , Waldburg by the beginning of the 21st century and Windhaag near Freistadt .

With the District Court Ordinance of the Austrian Federal Government on November 12, 2002, however, the resolution of the judicial district Unterweißbach was resolved and the allocation of the area to the judicial districts Freistadt and Pregarten determined. The ordinance came into force on January 1, 2005, whereby the judicial district of Freistadt was expanded to include the municipalities of Kaltenberg , Liebenau , St. Leonhard bei Freistadt , Unterweißbach and Weitersfelden .

The discussion about the closure of district courts, which began in the context of the administrative reform and budget savings in 2011/12, led to the decision to close the neighboring district courts of Leonfelden and Pregarten. As a result of the judicial district took Freistadt January 1, 2013 by the court district Leonfelden the seven churches Bad Leonfelden , Haibach im Mühlkreis , Ottenschlag im Mühlkreis , Reichenau im Mühlkreis , Reichenthal , Schenkenfelden and Zwettl an der Rodl .PER 1 January 2014 has Freistadt also the five communities Gutau , Hagenberg im Mühlkreis , Pregarten , Unterweitersdorf and Wartberg ob der Aist taken over from the judicial district of Pregarten.
