history

The judicial district goes back to the former Bavarian district court Ried, which was subordinate to the Duchy of Bavaria . In the course of the War of the Bavarian Succession , Bavaria had to cede the Innviertel to Austria through the Treaty of Teschen in 1779 . The area subsequently became part of Austria ob der Enns .

The district court was originally subordinate to the communities Andrichsfurt , Aurolzmünster , Eberschwang , Eitzing , Hohenzell , Kirchheim im Innkreis , Lohnsburg am Kobernaußerwald , Mehrnbach , Mettmach , Neuhofen im Innkreis , Pattigham , Peterskirchen , Pramet , Ried im Innkreis , St. Marienkirchen am Hausruck , Schildorn , Taiskirchen im Innkreis , Tumeltsham , Waldzell and Wippenham . In 1923 the community of Geiersberg was separated from the judicial district of Haag am Hausruck and the district of Grieskirchen and incorporated into the judicial district of Ried.

With the District Court Ordinance of the Austrian Federal Government on November 12, 2002, the resolution of the judicial district of Obernberg am Inn was resolved and the assignment of its areas to the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis determined. The ordinance came into force on January 1, 2005. Since 2005, the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis has therefore included the entire political district of Ried, whereby the judicial district in 2005 included the communities Antiesenhofen , Geinberg , Gurten , Kirchdorf am Inn , Lambrechte , Mörschwang , Mühlheim am Inn , Obernberg am Inn , Ort im Innkreis , Reichersberg , Sankt Georgen near Obernberg am Inn , St. Martin im Innkreis , Senftenbach , Utzenaich and Weilbach took over.

Before the merger, 42,260 people lived in the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis in 2001; in 2010 there were 58,680 residents with main residence.
