Hohenzell is a municipality with 2267 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Upper Austria . It is located in the Ried im Innkreis district in the Innviertel . The community is located in the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis .
geography
Hohenzell lies at an altitude of 478 m in the Innviertel. The extension is 6.8 km from north to south and 5.7 km from west to east. The total area is 22.52 km², of which 10.2% is forested and 80.1% is used for agriculture.

Hohenzell consists of seven cadastral communities : Emprechting 374.00 ha, Gonetsreith 425.84 ha, Hasenzagl 151.79 ha, Hohenzell 500.10 ha, Oberham 267.17 ha, Untermauer I 364.07 ha, Wimm 170.71 ha.

Neighboring communities
history
Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then "Innbaiern"). Bavarian again during the Napoleonic Wars , the place has belonged to Upper Austria since 1816 .
After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.

Population development
In 1991 the community had 1,870 inhabitants, in 2001 it had 1,999 inhabitants. The strong growth occurred because both the birth balance and the migration balance were positive. From 2001 to 2011 there was a slight emigration and the birth rate fell, so that the population only rose slightly to 2,044 people.

Culture and sights
- Catholic parish church Hohenzell hl. Michael: It was originally a Gothic church with a roof turret . The bell tower in the southern choir corner was built during the Baroque period and in 1685 a side chapel with a small entrance hall was added to the south.
