Josef Helm

Josef Helm (born January 16, 1884 in Hohenzell, Upper Austria ; † August 13, 1965 there ) was an Austrian farmer and politician .

Life

Josef Helm took over his father's farm in 1912 and married in 1913. The marriage resulted in six children. In 1921 he was elected to the municipality of Hohenzell and was mayor of this municipality from 1924 to 1938 . He was active in the farmers' union (1934–1938 and 1945–1949 district chairman, 1931–1936 deputy chairman in the provincial executive committee), he was also a member of the Upper Austrian Raiffeisen central bank and held leading positions in agricultural cooperatives .

For the Christian Social Party and for the ÖVP , Helm was a member of the state parliament from 1931 to 1938 and again from 1945 to 1949 , where he proved himself particularly as chairman of the school committee. For his services, he was awarded the professional title of Economics Council in 1936 , and he was also an honorary citizen of Hohenzell.
