The parish church of Hohenzell is in the village of Hohenzell in the municipality of Hohenzell in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Michael belongs to the deanery of Ried im Innkreis in the diocese of Linz . The church is a listed building .
history
The church was mentioned in a document in 1283. The wide Gothic hall church was expanded in the 16th century with a side aisle chapel. The bell tower in the southern corner of the choir was added during the Baroque period.
architecture
The slightly retracted three-bay choir connects to the single-nave three-bay nave with a three-eighth end. In 1665 the Gothic ribs of the vaults were chipped off. The three-axis west gallery with a keel arch is arched under star ribs. The south and west portal are keel-arched in a late Gothic style. The south portal received a barrel-vaulted vestibule in 1665. The porch shows the fresco Michael by Egidi Prinner (1736). The baptistery was stuccoed in the 3rd quarter of the 18th century. The tower in the southern choir corner has a new onion dome with a lantern.
Furnishing
The high altar from 1772 bears statues by the sculptor Johann Peter Schwanthaler the Elder. The pulpit around 1720 also bears figures of its kind. Franz Mathias Schwanthaler created a crucifixion group (1753) and an annunciation group (1732). There are four baroque figures in the choir. In the nave is a gothic figure of Mary with child.
A tombstone in the nave shows Vicar Wolfgang Maierhofer with Our Lady and founder and the indication 1533.
