Michael Reisecker (born November 26, 1982 in Ried im Innkreis ) is an Austrian documentary filmmaker . He is best known for his road movie- like documentary series Reiseckers Reisen , which takes him across Austria and has been broadcast by ORF since 2010 .

Life

Reisecker was born in Ried im Innkreis in Upper Austria and grew up in the neighboring community of Hohenzell . After a year of tourism school, the great Formula 1 and Gerhard Berger fan completed an apprenticeship as a vehicle technician . After evening school he studied material and processing technology and graduated with the title DI (FH) . Reisecker worked in research for an international company in Linz for six months before he worked as a ski instructor for two winters .

After graduating, Reisecker traveled to Australia and New Zealand and, in conversations with locals, came to the conclusion that he didn't know his own country of origin very well. Then he bought a mini camera , which he built into a glasses frame and made his trademark. In 2009, inspired by Franz Xaver Gernstl , he shot a first tour of Austria in two months and gathered conversations with around 70 people. He sent a compilation of this trip to Nikolaus Geyrhalter's Viennese production company , which eventually arranged an appointment for him with ORF . On the eve of the 2010 national holiday , the first impressions of Reiseckers Reisen were shown , which achieved a good rate despite the late broadcasting time . Since then, five seasons of the unusual format have been created, in which Reisecker tours Austria in a VW T5 and has already had hundreds of conversations with a wide variety of people as a director and cameraman in personal union .

Reisecker made his film debut On 4 Wheels in 2013. The documentary accompanies the 31-year-old Harald "Harry" Hötzinger, who is suffering from muscle wasting, on a trip to the Cannes Film Festival .

Michael Reisecker is the father of two children.
