Franz Xaver Gernstl
Franz Xaver Gernstl (born February 26, 1951 in Jenbach ) is a German documentary filmmaker and producer .
Life
Franz Xaver Gernstl completed an apprenticeship as a banker and then studied social education. Later he worked as a freelancer, filmmaker and reporter for Bayerischer Rundfunk , including for the television series Da schau her .
For his series of reports, Gernstl on the road , which he is filming with cameraman Hans Peter Fischer and sound engineer Stefan Ravasz , he is producer, director and presenter at the same time. Mostly unplanned, Gernstl approaches people on the left and right of the street. He makes them talk without saying too many words. His approach is reminiscent of the American journalist and author Studs Terkel , who also made it his goal to document the lives of ordinary people.
One of the first TV productions by Gernstl's production company Megaherz Film und Fernsehen was the entertainment program Dingsda .
