The program was first broadcast on January 14, 1981 on ARD. The aim of the program was to impart knowledge to children between the ages of 10 and 14 in the form of films. A wide range of topics was touched upon, from technical things to everyday problems to biology and much more. The program was moderated by Maria Knilli and Franz Xaver Gernstl . Furthermore looked Claus Kruesken with in the mission.

A special trademark of the series was the opening credits. You could see how dogs created the title of the series “ Da schau her ” from sausages by placing the sausages next to each other. This was of course a trick recording .
Da schau her was last broadcast on German television in 1989.
