Maria Knilli

Maria Knilli (born April 19, 1959 in Graz ) is an Austrian film director , screenwriter , film producer and film editor of documentaries and feature films who works for both television and cinema. She lives in Munich .

life and work

Knilli studied at the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF). She has been a freelance filmmaker for feature and documentary films since 1980. It has received several awards, including the German Federal Film Prize for the short feature film Spätvorstellung (1983) and the feature film Lieber Karl (1985) . In 1993 she began to direct at the theater ( Markgrafentheater Erlangen , Schauburg in Munich). She teaches screenwriting , directing and editing at the HFF Munich and the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy . In 2006 she founded Tittel & Knilli Filmproduktion together with her husband Volker Tittel . Maria Knilli is a member of the German Academy of Performing Arts and the German Film Academy.
