Sir Gerald Hubert Edward Busson du Maurier (born March 26, 1873 in London , England , † April 11, 1934 ibid) was an English theater director, stage and film actor.

Life

Gerald du Maurier was the son of the writer and draftsman George du Maurier .

Du Maurier got the first role in 1894 at the Garrick Theater . Fame earned him the role in the play The Admirable Crichton by JM Barrie in 1902. He also played the Captain Hook in the premiere of Barrie's play Peter Pan in 1904. From 1910 to 1925 he was head of the Wyndham's Theater .

In 1922 he was knighted for his services as a Knight Bachelor .

Du Maurier was married to the actress Muriel Beaumont (1881-1957) since 1902. He was the father of the writers Angela du Maurier (1904–2002), Daphne du Maurier (1907–1989) and the painter Jeanne du Maurier (1911–1996 / 97).
