Checker Can [ˈtʃekəʳ ˈdʒɑn] is a German television knowledge program for children.

General and moderation

It is produced by megaherz film und fernsehen GmbH on behalf of BR for Das Erste and KiKA . The presenter and namesake of the show is the specialist journalist Can Mansuroglu Checker Can , who comes from Oldenburg , is primarily aimed at children of primary school age and explains questions from everyday life. The first broadcast was broadcast on October 1, 2011. By 2013, 56 episodes of around 25 minutes each had been produced. The program is accompanied by the three-minute quick check , during which Mansuroglu answers three questions that children ask him.

From September 21, 2013 Tobias Krell went on the air as Checker Tobi alongside Can Mansuroglu and from March 2018 Julian Janssen as Checker Julian .

Awards

In 2012 the show received the Children's Media Prize of the Munich Film Festival, and in the same year the format was nominated for the Grimme Prize.
