General and moderation
The program is produced by Megaherz Film und Fernsehen on behalf of Bayerischer Rundfunk and is an extension of the program Checker Can , with the two formats being broadcast alternately on a weekly basis. In a similar style and with the same program elements, each episode is dedicated to a topic and prepares it in a child-friendly way for the core target group of six to ten year olds. In each episode, moderated studio parts alternate with reports and explanatory graphics. The program is thematically oriented towards the interests of primary school children and covers a correspondingly wide range of topics. The first broadcast was broadcast on September 21, 2013.
In March 2018, Julian Janssen went on air as Checker Julian alongside Can Mansuroglu and Tobias Krell.
On January 31, 2019, the documentary Checker Tobi and the secret of our planet came to German cinemas.
