Can Mansuroglu

Can Tobias Mansuroglu (born December 10, 1983 in Oldenburg (Oldb) ) is a German filmmaker, journalist and presenter.

Life

Can Mansuroglu was born in Oldenburg as the eldest of three sons to a German mother and a Turkish father. At first he wanted to be a teacher, but then studied political science and specialist journalism at the University of Bremen . During his studies he started working as a presenter for the children's program Checker Can for the children's channel KiKA in 2011 . In 2013 he dropped the show to finish his studies. The show was continued by Tobias Krell under the name Checker Tobi and since 2018 by Julian Janssen as Checker Julian . Since 2013 Mansuroglu has been working as a freelance journalist and filmmaker for various public editorial offices, including the Format Y collective .

Awards

In 2012 Mansuroglu was nominated with the episode Checker Can - Der Theatercheck for the special culture award of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as part of the Grimme Prize . In the same year he received a white elephant for the show at the Munich Film Festival .
