Nackt is a German drama from 2002 with slightly comedic features about the relationship problems of three couples. Directed by Doris Dörrie , who also wrote the screenplay based on one of her plays, which was published in 2001 by Diogenes Verlag under the title "Happy - a drama".

action

Three Berlin couples around the age of 30, who used to be close friends, want to meet for dinner together. But nothing is as uncomplicated as it used to be and the tension can be felt from the first moment.

Emilia and Felix recently split up because they both have the feeling that they have lost touch with their successful friends. While the scarcity of money they had during their relationship has never been a problem, Emilia is now unhappy about doing her job as a secretary at a local university .

Although Annette and Boris have no money worries and their relationship is not shaky, they still have problems being happy with each other and clash because of everyday differences of opinion. Therefore, Boris does not find the right time to give Annette the engagement ring that has already been bought and to hold her hand.

Charlotte and Dylan are married and millionaires because of Dylan's business , but the two of them are getting on badly. According to Charlotte's conviction, wealth does not make the two more freer, but rather restricts their freedom, since they are always judged according to what they buy and what they do without.

At their dinner together there is a bet with stakes in the form of money, jewelry and watches. The aim of the bet is to recognize one's partner naked and blindfolded only by touch. Two of the couples then undress, their smell is masked by a strong dose of perfume , and they feel each other while the third couple takes on the role of referee. The two couples recognize each other, but the pair of referees manipulates the line-up shortly before their blindfolds are removed.

The shock that followed escalates the situation between the couples and everyone goes their own way.

In view of the outcome of the bet, each of the three couples is now forced to speak to one another. As a result, Dylan and Charlotte manage to save their marriage. Boris makes Annette after a long conversation on the way home at a bus stop a marriage proposal . Emilia and Felix spend the night together after trying to recognize each other blindfolded in Emilia's apartment.

Reviews

On September 19, 2002, the taz ruled that “this mixture of different middle classes and generations results in a highly implausible representation of German realities and relationship issues”.

The film service saw a “film adaptation of a stage play carried out by outstanding actors, which underlines its theatrical quality through the reduction of camera movements. Despite the serious subject, the subtle, perfectly equipped »soul striptease« never loses its lightness and, thanks to the imaginative staging, condenses into a remarkable pleasure. "

Bärbel Pfannerer wrote in the 20/2002 issue of TV Movie : “The search for love, happiness and the meaning of life - heavy fare that is also packed into many words. That sounds like exhausting mental cinema. Fortunately, the top ensemble skilfully alternates between a serious and a light tone. And bizarre breaks, such as the brisk vocal interludes, make for a liberating smile. "

The time judged, “instead of tracking down the abysses behind the rhetorical armor, Dörrie stuffs everything that somehow looks like an abyss with everyday knowledge and shallow concepts of happiness. So she herself is the greatest suppressor of her social diagnosis. "

background

The film premiered on September 2, 2002 at the Venice International Film Festival and was shown for the first time in Germany and Switzerland on September 19, 2002.

The threefold structure of the film clearly shows that the script was written from a stage play. The sparse camera movements also underline the stage atmosphere. The conversation between the actors is more important than the plot, the film gets by with just a few locations, including the Kurfürstendamm in Berlin-Charlottenburg and the Bavaria film studios in Munich .

With 0.9 million viewers, Dörrie was unable to build on her great success with the movie Men , but in view of the relatively low production costs, one can speak of a commercial success with a box office result of around 5.7 million euros.

Awards

The film was shown in the competition at the Venice International Film Festival in 2002 , but was not awarded the prize. In 2003 the film was awarded the German Film Prize in silver. Jürgen Vogel received a Golden Camera for his performance . The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating particularly valuable.
