action

Over 30 years ago, Ingrid led a chaotic hip game life on the beach in Torremolinos, southern Spain . Now the aged 68er is returning as an all-inclusive tourist to this place, where huge hotel bunkers and cheap discos have now emerged.

When she orders a pedicure , she realizes that the podiatrist Tina is the transvestite Tim, the son of her vacation affair 30 years ago. Tim's mother took her own life because of her husband's affair. Away from the hotel, Ingrid finds an African boat refugee who has just landed, half-thirsty, and whom she helps unselfishly according to her disposition and worldview. While her neurotic daughter Apple tries to establish a relationship with the veterinarian at home who is treating her sick, inoperative French bulldog named Dr. Sigmund Freud , whom she also calls her psychiatrist . When she loses her job because of her dog and attempts to negotiate with the doctor fail because of his sexual preferences, Apple decides to visit her mother in Spain.

criticism

“Burlesque, playful, yet melancholy generational comedy from the psychological safe zone. The multi-perspective rendezvous of a colorful group of figures balances on the edge of the underchallenge between situation comedy and gentle blows against petty-bourgeois and left-liberal derailments.

"Doris Dörrie remains true to herself in the film adaptation of her own novel, but her latest" human comedy "is thematically overloaded and therefore remains superficial."

production

The film was produced by Olga Film GmbH in coproduction with Bayerischer Rundfunk and Degeto Film . It was funded by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern), the Filmförderungsanstalt (FFA) and the German Filmförderfonds (DFFF).
