action

Bert Uttanzi, an inconspicuous employee in a New York architecture office, is using his 35th birthday as an opportunity to change his life. He finally wants to get the recognition he deserves and show lasting success in the job. On this very day, however, his best piece - spoken by Heiner Lauterbach - begins to talk to him and complains that it has hardly been used in recent years. It therefore calls on Bert to make up for the missed opportunities of recent years and to conquer the world of women. After initially resisting these plans, Bert Uttanzi became increasingly involved.

In one of the first official acts, Bert succeeds in managing a presentation in the architectural office in such a way that the assembled company employees and, above all, the boss's wife are enthusiastic about Bert's plans for a marina. In 21 days, Bert should concretize these plans. In order not to be distracted by his wife and child at home, he rents a room near the architecture office. Bert begins work with the firm intention of completing the plans by the specified deadline. But since his best piece has other plans, Bert, driven by his secret sexual desires, gets into some difficult situations. But Bert soon noticed a number of interesting changes in his life.

success

With 3.5 million viewers, the film landed at number 6 of the most successful feature films of 1988. It was awarded the Golden Screen .

criticism

  • film-dienst : An idea that was hardly sustainable for a comedic film was rolled out and staged without any ideas; Appealingly cast only in the male roles, the film itself reveals the uptightness that it claims to satirize.
