Mark Linn-Baker (born June 17, 1954 , St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actor and director .

Life

Linn-Baker made his film debut in 1979 with a minor supporting role in Woody Allen's comedy Manhattan as a Shakespeare actor. After minor TV roles, he had a leading role in Richard Benjamin's A Daredevil in New York in 1982 at the side of Peter O'Toole .

He had his breakthrough in the 1986 TV series A Greek conquers Chicago in the role of Larry Appleton , who is repeatedly brought into absurd situations by his cousin Balki , who moved from southern Europe . The series immediately became a TV hit in the United States. A total of 8 seasons were produced by 1993.

During this time, Linn-Baker also took on roles in numerous TV productions, but also appeared occasionally in feature films, such as in 1988 in Doris Dörrie's comedy Me and He or in 1992 in Peter Bogdanovich's romance The Fun Begins .
