concept

The Innviertler Michael Reisecker travels since 2009 with a camera glasses by Austria and comes spontaneously with all sorts of interesting people this week. Reisecker describes the motivation for the unusual road movie on his website as follows:

“'REISECKERS REISEN - An Austrian Road Movie' is a project by and for people who not only pay attention to the packaging, but also to the content, with the aim of promoting more openness and tolerance and at least reducing existing prejudices ... . "

- Michael Reisecker (2013)

The Upper Austrian came up with the idea during a trip to New Zealand when he realized that he found it sad "to travel far to discover distant countries, people and cultures without having explored or knowing his own homeland beforehand" . As an inspiration for his documentaries he named the work of Franz Xaver Gernstl and in particular his series of reports Gernstl on the road .

production

A special feature is Reisecker's mini camera , which is integrated into a glasses frame and thus provides shaky, but realistic images. He carries a sound recording device in a backpack, two associated microphones sit on the backpack straps. In this way he can act as a cameraman and director in personal union. He drives to the various locations in a white VW T5 . Sometimes he goes by bike, for example on the Danube Cycle Path , along the Vienna or on the coast of the Kvarner Bay . The trained automotive technician and studied plastics technician needs a maximum of six days of shooting for one episode, while post-production takes three to four weeks. The entrepreneur, who has been self-employed since 2012, spends a total of around 110 nights away from home each year. So far, six specials with a total of eight episodes have been produced abroad. On the occasion of the US presidential election in 2012 traveled Reisecker the southeastern United States. In 2016 he shot in Lignano , one of the most popular vacation spots for Austrians, and in 2017 on the occasion of the federal elections in the German capital Berlin , and in Bali . In 2019, episodes from South Tyrol and the Croatian Adriatic coast were broadcast.

The production company is Nikolaus Geyrhalter Filmproduktion .
