Tumeltsham is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried im Innkreis in the Innviertel with 1599 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis .
geography
Tumeltsham is located at an altitude of 438 meters in the Innviertel. The extension is 3.9 kilometers from north to south and 4 kilometers from west to east. The total area is 9.1 square kilometers. 8.7 percent of the area is forested and 73.9 percent of the area is used for agriculture.

history
Tumeltsham was first mentioned in 1122 as the seat of the Tumuoltesheim family. The Tumuoltesheimer were subordinate to the County of Formbach . Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria the place was Bavarian until 1779 and after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ) it came to the Archduchy of Austria . During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again , since 1816 ( Treaty of Munich ) it has finally belonged to Austria on the Enns . In 1891 the municipality of Tumeltsham was enlarged to include the town of Eschlried.
After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.
Population development
In 1991 the municipality had 1,145 inhabitants, in 2001 it had 1,352 inhabitants. With a slightly positive birth balance and high immigration, the population rose to 1,515 in 2011.
