Kirchheim im Innkreis lies at an altitude of 429 m in the Innviertel. The extension is 4.9 km from north to south and 5.4 km from west to east. The total area is 10.2 km². 15.7% of the area is forested, 74.5% of the area is used for agriculture.

The Waldzeller Ache ( Ach ) flows through the municipality .

Parish Church of St. Nicholas

The first documented mention of Kirchheim comes from the time between 1110 and 1125, when Rapato von Münzkirchen dedicated an estate called Chirichium to the Passau cathedral. Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria , the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ). During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again, since 1816 it has finally belonged to Austria ob der Enns.

After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

Kirchheim im Innkreis was a European cultural village in 2010 and celebrated its 900th anniversary at the same time.

The Dreiberg symbolizes the three elevations Kreuzberg, Kraxenberg and Federnberg and the agricultural environment of the community. The discs symbolize the three golden apples of Saint Nicholas , the patron saint of the parish. The lion was the heraldic animal of the barons of Lützelburg , the former owners of the aristocratic Ramerding estate.

The municipality colors are yellow-red-white and are derived from the colors of the coat of arms.
