St. Marienkirchen am Hausruck , also Sankt Marienkirchen am Hausruck , is a municipality in Upper Austria in the district of Ried im Innkreis in the Innviertel with 877 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The community is located in the judicial district of Ried im Innkreis .

geography

St. Marienkirchen am Hausruck, the main town of the municipality, is located at 523 m above sea level in the Innviertel. The extension of the municipality is 5 km from north to south and 3.6 km from west to east. The total area is 10.9 km². 18.3% of the area is forested, 74.3% of the area is used for agriculture.

Official description of the municipal coat of arms : split by silver and green; three heraldic lilies in alternating colors on a stem with two leaves growing from the lower edge of the shield.
This coat of arms was originally the coat of arms of the noble von Hatting and was later used as the municipal coat of arms . The municipality colors are green-white-blue.

history

Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then 'Innbaiern'). Briefly Bavarian again during the Napoleonic Wars , since 1814 it has finally belonged to Upper Austria.

After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

politics

Günter Fisecker of the ÖVP has been mayor since 2008. Rudolf Buttinger is Vice Mayor, also from the ÖVP.

Population development

In 1991 the community had 655 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 735 inhabitants. With the birth balance and migration balance remaining positive, the population continued to grow to 839 in 2011 and 888 in 2018.
