In the course of the separation of the political from the judicial administration from 1868, the judicial district together with the judicial districts of Eferding , Lambach , Waizenkirchen and Wels formed the district of Wels .

On June 1, 1870, the municipality of Meggenhofen was assigned to the judicial district of Grieskirchen , which had left the judicial district of Lambach.

In 1907 the municipality of Steinerkirchen am Innbach (today municipality of Kematen am Innbach ) was removed from the judicial district of Lambach and assigned to Grieskirchen.

In 1911, the district of Grieskirchen was formed from the judicial district of Grieskirchen together with the judicial district of Peuerbach and the judicial district of Haag am Hausruck , with the district authority taking up its work on July 1, 1911.

Due to the dissolution of the judicial district Waizenkirchen in the district of Eferding, the communities of the judicial district Waizenkirchen were divided into the judicial districts of Eferding, Grieskirchen and Peuerbach, with the districts of Michaelnbach and St. Thomas falling to the judicial district of Grieskirchen .

With the District Court Ordinance of the Austrian Federal Government on November 12, 2002, the resolution of the judicial district of Haag am Hausruck and the assignment of the area to the judicial district of Grieskirchen was resolved. The ordinance came into force on January 1, 2003. As a result, the judicial district of Grieskirchen was expanded to include the communities of Aistersheim , Gaspoltshofen , Geboltskirchen , Haag am Hausruck , Pram , Rottenbach , Weibern and Wendling .

On January 1, 2014, the Peuerbach judicial district was dissolved and the communities of Bruck-Waasen , Kallham , Peuerbach , Steegen and Waizenkirchen were assigned to the Grieskirchen judicial district.
